A raw manuscript needs to be looked into as a whole and refined by putting all the pieces in place. The following aspects are taken care of:

- Conscientious fact check
- Narrative shaping
- Loopholes check
- Discrepancies check or scene work
- Ambiguity check and logical rewriting
- Suggestion to fix issues
- Reduction or increase in word count for clarity
Copy Editing
This step entails achieving the most readable version of the book by working on it at micro-level to make it error free. It helps to keep the focus on the plot of the story. The following aspects are taken care of:
- Spell check
- Punctuation check
- Word capitalisation check
- Better word usage/edit repetitive word usage
- Dialogue tag check
- Numbers or numeral usage
- Sentence structure check
- Tense check and fixation for parity
- Formatting of entire document
Proofreading
This step entails extremely meticulous inspection of the script to edit all spelling or grammatical errors. It is the last step to ensure that the script is rendered flawless by scrutinising an edited manuscript and fine-combing for errors missed during earlier edits.
Editorial Assessment
This is all about getting the manuscript critiqued and reviewed without any rectifications such that the script may be turned around. It includes detailed comments to improvise the script, a comprehensive report on the strengths and weaknesses and areas to be worked on.
What steps does the Editing Process entail?
Project Confirmation
Seal the Deal
- 500 words obligation free sample
- Your approval
- Finalising on the level of edit, charges, and timeline
- 10% of the total amount to confirm/book to seal the deal
- 50% advance payment before initiating the project. 10% advance to confirm the deal would be deducted from this amount
First Round of Edit
- Submission of script
- About 2-4 weeks for 50,000 words, depending on level of edit
- Editing will be done with Track Changes mode for clarity
- Suggestions in comments to be discussed for improvement
- 50% balance payment to be made on receipt
Second Round of Edit
- You send the new version of script
- Second read and final clean-up
Calculation of charges :
This will depend on the type of editing required, the genre, and the final word count after proofreading.
Please note: Once mutually approved, if the author makes major changes in the manuscript, it would be considered as another round of edit and will be chargeable.
Cancellation Policy :
Once the editing work is initiated, if the writer decides not to go ahead with publishing, this will not bear any consequences on the editing charges and full payment will be due for the work done.
Preferred Format :
I work with MS Word. Hence, submission from your end as well as final submission from my end both in this format is preferable.
